Prince: Crimson and Clover video

It is funny I was thinking about website graphics recently and image filled silhouettes was in my mind. Then I see this video and it blows me away. Dreams are meant to lead to reality. Time to get busy creating and pray it turns out well. Enjoy the video!

Crimson and Clover was originally made by Tommy James and the Shondells. This is a live performance from 2008. I took a look at the other songs from Tommy James and there’s more great music – “Mony Mony”, “Crystal Blue Persuasion”, and “Sweet Cherry Wine”.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts picked up Crimson and Clover and made it very popular in the 80s.

Congratulations to Tommy James for creating inspiring songs, and to the artists that are inspired creating wonderful art in remaking them. I love the work of Prince.

I was visiting a friend’s blog and saw this quote and it so well dovetails with a conversation we had at the planning meeting for Spacewalk 2009 Tuesday.

Our world isn’t always the real world, sometimes we have to step out of our comfort zone to meet people where they are…

During the conversation about media coverage for Spacewalk,  I was saying at one point that we have to describe this upcoming event as riding a bicycle. You’ll never get it by having someone describe it – it will be an experiential event that evolves. That is why we need journalists to take part in the entire event. Too often they show up for at most an hour and feel they covered it all. A journalist becomes one with what they report, then media coverage gives a first person editorial view that engages the reader.

Spacewalk is a 24 hour event that will transform the path it weaves through downtown Detroit and NW Detroit (around the Detroit Dream Project Temple and Artists Village). Through the event we will be passing out tickets to the homeless and inviting them to breakfast with us on Sunday.

List of Dreams

Remember a dream is fantasy unless it is shared with a listening audience. Therefore I’m revealing some of our desires early to see what can be mustered in community support.

• Better Detroit Youth Movement to participate? Event will appeal to all ages and have fun educational content
• Communities to inquire for support – Landmark Education, Renaissance Unity, Heidelberg Project
• Visual projection artists to illuminate outdoor locations
• FM radio headphones
• Clothes washing and showers for the homeless on Sunday morning
• Art car parade
• Non motorized vehicle parade
• Buses to support transportation of community

After the meeting Kate and I took a visit to see the Dequindre Cut. The path has trail heads at Jefferson and Gratiot. The most accommodating for a large gathering and parking of vehicles would be at the Jefferson entrance. Accessible one block off Jefferson and Orleans. I’ll eventually get back there with photos during daylight hours.

Next Planning Meeting

Tuesday, April 28 7pm at Goldfish Tea Room – the TweetEA meeting will be taking place at same time. Discussion with @HubertGAM on Twitter and by phone left some questions as to how the two groups would interact. He wasn’t sure if the people attending would see benefit or interest in this event. We are welcome to attend and present but keep it within the structure of their meeting. I really need @WarriorGirl to contact him so we’ll be on the same page for next week’s meeting to most effectively use time planning.

Wednesday Plans

Attended the Better Detroit Youth Movement Teambuilding meeting from 7:30-9:30pm at Wayne County Community College Downtown, 1001 Fort St, Detroit 48226 in room 260. Katey attended as well, met her at the Spacewalk meeting. She found a number of activities discussed and contacts made of interest.

Susan Boyle has been singing since she was 12, now is 48. The behind stage conversations saying she’s unemployed. Admitted even that she’s never had a boyfriend or been kissed. When she took the stage it seemed there was so much doubt placed upon her. She stood on stage as a mature woman with spunk and confidence knowing who she is. She is from West Lothian, near Edinburgh – in her description a collection of villages. As soon as she sang the first bar the audience was roaring in approval. Watch the video…

She obviously took the audience by storm, and the judges simply adored her.

A couple days ago as I was rushing out the door the cell phone dropped from the desk to the floor. Parts flew and came back together. The Nokia 6001 has been called the following by friends “tank of a phone”, “drug dealer phone”, “indestructible”. Yes it has been dropped the distance before and reassembled over a dozen times. The drug dealer reference comes because it is cheap and easy to push out into a street-market.

So I need a new phone… preferably one with some form of internet access, because this phone book of 300 numbers has gone through too many rotations. My active list of numbers is about 3-4 times that and yet if the phone doesn’t support storage, then I am not in contact as I could be.

If I have donated service to you/your events could you please offer up $5, or even a dollar? This is a critical situation because having a working phone is vital to my business. I would like to thank those whom have offered assistance in times of need.
